Psalm 18
1 I love you, dear Jehovah, my strength. 2 Jehovah is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. 3 I will call on Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised: in this way I will be saved from my enemies. 4 The cords of death surrounded me, and the floods of ungodliness made me afraid. 5 The cords of Sheol were all around me; the snares of death came on me. 6 In my distress I called on Jehovah, and I cried out to my God: He heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry rose up before him into his ears. 7 Then the earth shook and trembled. The foundations of the mountains quaked, they were shaken, because he was mad. 8 There went up a smoke from out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals were kindled, set ablaze by it. 9 He bowed the heavens, and came down. Thick darkness was under his feet. 10 He rode on a cherub, and flew; yes, he soared on the wings of the wind. 11 He made darkness his hiding place, his pavilion all around him. The darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies. 12 At the brightness before him, his thick clouds passed away, hailstones and coals of fire. 13 Jehovah also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High released his voice. Hailstones and coals of fire. 14 He sent out his arrows, and scattered them; yes, much lightnings, and traumatized them. 15 Then channels of waters appeared, and the foundations of the world were laid bare. At your rebuke, great Jehovah, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils. 16 He sent his salvation from on high, he snatched me; he drew me out of many waters. 17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them who hated me; for they were too mighty for me. 18 They fell on me in the day of my calamity; but Jehovah was my rock. 19 He rescued me, and brought me forth into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. 20 Jehovah has rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands he has recompensed me. 21 For I kept the ways of Jehovah, and did not wickedly depart from my God. 22 All his laws I kept before me, I would not stray away from his statutes. 23 I was perfect with him, and I kept myself from all my iniquity. 24 Therefore Jehovah recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight. 25 With the merciful you will show yourself merciful. With the perfect man you will show yourself perfect. 26 With the pure you will show yourself pure, and with the perverse you will show yourself difficult. 27 For you will save afflicted people; but haughty eyes you will bring down. 28 For you will light my lamp: Jehovah my God will alight my darkness. 29 For by you I run against a troop; and by my God I leap over a wall. 30 As for God, his way is perfect: The word of Jehovah is proven through trial. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. 31 For who is God, except Jehovah? Who is a rock, besides our God? 32 He is the God who girds me with strength, and makes my way perfect. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer. He sets me up safe on my high places. 34 He teaches my hands how to war; so that my arms can bend a bow of brass. 35 You also have given me the shield of your salvation; and your right hand holds me up. It is your gentleness that made me so great. 36 You have steadied my steps under me, so that my feet do not slip. 37 I can pursue my enemies, and overtake them. I will not stop again until they are all utterly consumed. 38 I will kill them, so that they cannot rise, they shall fall under my feet. 39 For you have girded me with strength for the battle. You subdued, under me, those who rose up against me to strike me. 40 You also caused my enemies to turn their backs to me, so I could cut them off who hate me. 41 They cried out, but there was no one to save. They cried even to Jehovah, but he would not answer them. 42 I beat them as small as the fine dust blown in the wind; I cast them out as swamp in the streets. 43 You delivered me from the strife of people; you made me the head of the nations. A people I do not know will serve me. 44 As soon as they hear of me they will obey me. The foreigners will submit themselves to me. 45 The foreigners shall fade away, and come trembling out of their small places. 46 Jehovah lives, blessed is my rock. Exalted is the God of my salvation, 47 The God who executes vengeance for me, who subdues peoples under me. 48 He rescues me from my enemies; yes, you lift me up above them who rose up against me. You deliver me from the violent man. 49 Therefore I will give thanks to you, great Jehovah, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name. 50 He gives great deliverance to his king, and shows lovingkindness to his anointed, to David and his seed, for ever more.
Psalm 19
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the sky canopy shows his handiwork. 2 Day to day it utters speech, and night to night shows knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language used; and their voice is not heard. 4 Yet their sentence has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a home for the sun, 5 which is a bridegroom coming out from his chamber. It rejoices gladly as a strong man runs his course. 6 The sun journeys forth from one end of the heavens, and his circuit is to the other end of it. There is nothing hidden from the heat of the sun. 7 The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul. The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever. The ordinances of Jehovah are true, and altogether righteous. 10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than a lot of fine gold; sweeter also than honey, and the droppings of the honeycomb. 11 By them is your servant warned: in keeping them there is great reward. 12 Who can discern his own errors? Dear God, clear me from hidden faults. 13 Restrain your servant also from presumptuous sins; ensure they do not have dominion over me: Then I will be upright, and I shall be clear from great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, great Jehovah. You are my rock, and my redeemer.
Psalm 20
1 Jehovah, answer me in the day of trouble. The name of the God of Jacob make you safe in high places. 2 God, will you send help from the sanctuary? Send strength out of Zion. 3 Remember all your offerings, accept the burnt sacrifice; stop and mediate, praise, him who lives forever 4 Grant your heart's desire, and fulfil all your guidance. 5 We will triumph in your salvation, in the name of our God we will set up our victory banners: Jehovah fulfil all your petitions. 6 I now know that Jehovah saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots, and some trust in horses; but we will make mention of the name of Jehovah our God. 8 They are bowed down and fallen; but we arise, and stand upright. 9 Save, Jehovah, let the King answer us when we call.
Psalm 21
1 The king rejoices in your strength, great Jehovah; and in your salvation how greatly he takes pleasure! 2 You have given him his heart's desire, and not withheld the request of his lips. 3 For you provide him with the blessings of goodness. You set a crown of fine gold on his head. 4 He asked life of you, and you granted it to him, even length of days up to for ever and ever. 5 His glory is great in your salvation. Honor and majesty you lay on him, 6 you make him most blessed for ever. You cause him to be glad with great joy in your presence. 7 The king trusts in Jehovah; and through the lovingkindness of the Most High he will not be moved. 8 Your hand will find and destroy all your enemies; your right hand will find and destroy all those who hate you. 9 You will make them burn as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger: Jehovah will swallow them up in his wrath, until the fire devours them. 10 You destroy their offspring from the earth, and their seed from among children of men. 11 For they intended evil against you; they conceived ideas and plans they were not able to carry out. 12 For you will cause them to give up; you draw your bowstrings ready aimed to target at their face. 13 Be exalted, dear Jehovah, in your own strength: and so we will sing and praise your power.
Psalm 22
1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? 2 My God, I cry in the daytime, but you do not answer; and in the night season, I am not silent to you. 3 But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in you: They trusted, and you delivered them. 5 They cried out to you, and were delivered by you. They trusted in you, and did not suffer shame. 6 But I am a worm, and not a man; I am a reproach of men, and despised by many people. 7 All of the people who see me laugh at me to scorn. They shoot out of their lips, and they shake their heads, saying, 8 Commit yourself to Jehovah; let God deliver him. Let God rescue him, seeing the Lord delights in him. 9 But you are the one who took me out of the womb; you brought me peace in my youth. 10 I was dependent on you from the womb; you are my God from the moment since my mother gave birth to me. 11 Do not be far from me; for trouble is near. There is no one to help. 12 Many beasts have surrounded me; strong bulls of Bashan have attacked me all around. 13 They gape at me with their mouths, as a hungry lion roars. 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax; it melts within me. 15 My strength is dried up like a broken shattered water jug; my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; and you have brought me down into the dust of death. 16 Dogs have surrounded me. An evil company has enclosed me. They pierced my hands and my feet. 17 I can count all my bones; the people look and they stare at me. 18 They strip me of my garments, and gamble among them for the prize of my clothing. 19 But do not be far off, great Jehovah. You are my source, come quickly to help me. 20 Deliver my soul from the sword, your darling from the power of the dog. 21 Save me from the lion's mouth. Yes, from the horns of the wild ox you answered and saved me. 22 I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the assembly I will praise you. 23 You who fear Jehovah, praise him. All the generations of Jacob, glorify him. Stand in awe of him, descendants of Israel. 24 He has not despised nor abhorred the suffering of the afflicted. Neither has he hidden his face from him who was wounded. When he cried to God, the Lord heard. 25 My good report comes from you among the great assembly. I pay my vows before the people who fear God. 26 The meek eat and are satisfied; Jehovah is praised by those who seek after him. Their hearts will live and rejoice with God for ever. 27 The ends of the earth will remember Jehovah, and they will turn to him. All the nations shall worship before you. 28 For the kingdoms of the earth are Jehovah's; he rules over all the nations. 29 All those who God provides for in the earth, eat well and worship. All of those who die, and go down to the dust, bow before him, even the one who cannot keep his own soul alive. 30 Offspring will serve him. One generation shall give instruction to the next about the Lord. 31 The people will declare his righteousness to the next generation born, of the great deeds he has done.
Psalm 23
1 Jehovah, the Lord is my shepherd; I will not be in need. 2 He causes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness follows me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of Jehovah, the Lord, for ever.
Psalm 24
1 The earth is Jehovah's, and all the fulness that is within; all the world, and they who live there. 2 For he has laid its foundations on the seas, and established it on the floods. 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of Jehovah? Who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He who has clean hands, and a pure heart. He who hasn’t lifted up his soul to falsehood, neither sworn deceitfully with his mouth. 5 He will receive a blessing from Jehovah, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them who seek after him, that seek your face, from Jacob. 7 Lift up your heads, you ancient gates; and be lifted up, you everlasting doors. The King of glory will come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? Jehovah strong and mighty. Jehovah mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, you gates; yes, lift them up, you everlasting doors. The King of glory will come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? Jehovah of hosts, angel armies, he is the King of glory. Stop and mediate, praise, him who lives forever.
Psalm 25
1 Great Jehovah, to you I lift up my soul. 2 My dear God, in you I have trusted. Let me not be put to shame; and do not allow my enemies to triumph over me. 3 Yes, none who wait for you are put to shame: The ones who deal treacherously without cause, they are the ones who will be put to shame. 4 Show me your ways, great Jehovah; teach me your paths. 5 Guide me in all your truth, and teach me. For you are my God, the God of my salvation; it is for you who I wait on all the day long. 6 Remember, Jehovah, your tender mercies and your lovingkindness; for they have been forever, even from ancient times. 7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. According to your lovingkindness please remember me, for your own goodness sake, dear Jehovah. 8 Jehovah is good and upright: so God instructs sinners of the way. 9 The meek he guides in justice; and the meek he teaches his way to. 10 All the paths of Jehovah are lovingkindness and truth. To those who keep his covenant and his testimonies. 11 For your name's sake, Jehovah, pardon my iniquity, for it is great. 12 Who is the man that fears Jehovah? God will instruct that man in the way he must choose. 13 His soul will dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the land. 14 The friendship of Jehovah is with them who fear him; he shows to them his covenant. 15 My eyes are forever pointed towards Jehovah; for it is him who plucks my feet out of the net. 16 Turn to me, and have mercy on me; I am desolate and afflicted. 17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged. Bring me out of my distresses. 18 Consider my afflictions and travail; forgive all my sins. 19 Consider my enemies, for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred. 20 Lord, keep my soul, and deliver me. Do not allow me to be put to shame, I take refuge in you. 21 May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for you I wait. 22 Redeem Israel, God, out of all his troubles.
Psalm 26
1 Judge me with kindness, great Jehovah, for I have walked in my integrity. I have trusted in Jehovah without wavering. 2 Examine me, dear Jehovah, and confirm my life; try my heart and my mind. 3 For your lovingkindness is before my eyes; and I walk in your truth. 4 I have not sat with men of falsehood; neither will I go in to the house of fakers who do not actually love God. 5 I hate the assembly of those who do evil, and will not sit with the wicked. 6 I will wash my hands in innocence, in this way I will come to your altar, great Jehovah. 7 So that my voice of thanksgiving may be heard, then I can tell of all your wondrous deeds. 8 Jehovah, I love to live in your house, the place where your glory dwells. 9 Please do not gather my soul along with the sinners, nor my life with men of blood. 10 In their hands is wickedness, their right hand is full of bribes. 11 But as for me, I will walk in my integrity. Redeem me, and be merciful to me. 12 My foot stands in an even safe place. In the midst of the congregation I will bless Jehovah.
Psalm 27
1 Jehovah is my light and my salvation. Whom should I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life. Of whom am I to be afraid? 2 When evil people came to me to eat up my flesh, it was my adversaries and my foes, who stumbled and fell. 3 Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear. Though war rises against me, still then I will remain confident. 4 One thing I have asked of Jehovah, that is what I will seek after. That I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life. That I may behold the beauty of Jehovah, and to enter in his temple to inquire of him. 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his tent. In the secret place of his tabernacle he will hide me; he will lift me high up on a rock. 6 Then my head will be lifted up above the enemies surrounding about me. I will offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to Jehovah. 7 Hear, great Jehovah, when I cry with my voice: Have mercy on me, and answer me. 8 When you said, Seek my face; my heart said in reply to you, Your face, Jehovah, I will seek. 9 Hide not your face from me. Do not cast your servant away in anger. You have been my help; do not throw me away, neither leave me, dear God of my salvation. 10 When my father and my mother leave me, then Jehovah will stay with me. 11 Teach me your way, great Jehovah; and lead me in a straight simple path, because of my enemies. 12 Do not deliver me over to the will of my adversaries. False witnesses have risen up against me, those such as breathe out cruelty on their breath. 13 I was faint, but still I believed I would see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living. 14 Wait for Jehovah, my soul. Be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for Jehovah.
Psalm 28
1 To you, great Jehovah, I will call. My rock, do not be deaf to me; if you are silent to me, I will become like all them who go down into the pit. 2 Hear the voice of my crying prayers, when I call out to you. When I lift up my hands towards your holy revelatory voice. 3 Do not draw me away with the wicked, or with the workers of iniquity. Those who speak peace with their neighbors, but have only mischief in their hearts. 4 Give them according to their works, and according to the wickedness of their deeds. Give them the harvest due the operation of their hands; render to them their just deserves. 5 Because they do not regard the acts of Jehovah, nor the wonders from his hands, he will destroy them, not edify them. 6 Blessed is Jehovah, because he has heard the voice of my crying tears. 7 Jehovah is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I have found his help. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with a song I will praise him. 8 Jehovah is their strength, he is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed. 9 Save your people, and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd as well, and bear them up for ever.
Psalm 29
1 Give to Jehovah, you sons of the mighty, give to Jehovah praise for his glory and strength. 2 Give to Jehovah the glory due to his name. Worship Jehovah in holy garments. 3 The voice of Jehovah is on the waters. The God of glory thunders, yes Jehovah over many waters. 4 The voice of Jehovah is powerful. The voice of Jehovah is full of majesty. 5 The voice of Jehovah breaks the cedar trees. Yes, Jehovah breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Syria like a young wild ox. 7 The voice of Jehovah clings to flames of fire. 8 The voice of Jehovah shakes the wilderness; Jehovah shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of Jehovah causes the deer to calve, he strips the forests bare. In his temple everything says, Glory. 10 Jehovah sat as King of the Flood; Yes, Jehovah sits as King for ever. 11 Jehovah will give strength to his people; Jehovah blesses his people with peace.
Psalm 3o
1 I will extol you, great Jehovah; for you have raised me up. You have caused my foes to not be able to rejoice over me. 2 Dear Jehovah my God, I cried out to you, and you healed me. 3 Jehovah, you brought my soul up from Sheol; you kept me alive, so that I will not go down to the pit. 4 Sing praise to Jehovah, you saints of his, and give thanks to his holy name. 5 For his anger lasts only for a moment; but his favor is for an entire life time. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes in the morning. 6 As for me, I said in my good provision, I will never be moved. 7 You, Jehovah, in your favor caused my mountain to stand strong. You hid your face; and I was troubled. 8 I cried to you, great Jehovah; and to Jehovah I gave my prayers: 9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Can the dust praise you? Can it declare your truth? 10 Hear, dear Jehovah, and have mercy on me: Jehovah, be my helper. 11 You have turned my mourning into dancing. You have removed my sackcloth from off me, and instead clothed me with gladness. 12 To this end, that my glory may sing praises to you, and not be silent. Jehovah my God, I will give thanks to you for ever.
